: Celina, Ohio
Length: 40 kilometers (24 miles) Time Trial

This time trial race will be held in conjunction with the Colavita Time Trial Series Ohio Challenge event, and will pit stock men's class recumbent racers against some of the best upright bike racers in the midwest.

An HPV class is also available for women and faired vehicles, but riders in these classes are not eligible for the Ohio Recumbent Challenge prizes.

Riders of any ability are encouraged to race. The race is sponsored by the Colavita-ZIPP Time Trial Series.

Event Location
Click here for a map of the race, which follows the roads around Grand Lake in Celina. The race starts at the corner of State Route 127 and Lake Shore Drive, in Celina, Ohio

Each paid entrant gets a Colavita/Zipp gift bag with all kinds of stuff like pasta, goo packs, Sportlegs samples, etc. After the race there are drawing for lots of door prizes. Usually Rudy Project helmets, RP sunglasses, Zipp hats, ID braclets, tee shirts, etc.
Prizes are being gathered for the top 3 recumbent finishers.

The Ohio Recumbent Challenge is specifically for men racing stock recumbent bicycles. Racing is chip timing with immediate results on a big screen. Racers will adhere to the rules on the Colavita Time Trial Series site. This race uses the HPRA definition for stock class:

"An unfaired recumbent has any number of wheels in any configuration or length. The vehicle construction shall be such that its shape does not overtly direct airflow around the rider's body, nor attempt to reattach the airflow behind the rider by use of tail fairing devices. The only exception being the use of an aerodynamic shaped helmet. The vehicle can incorporate aerodynamic fairings to make its structure and components more aerodynamic. Allowed fairings are: rotating wheel covers and splitter plates."

Each racer pays a $25 entry fee.

Please preregister for the race using this online signup process

There is a fine state campground on the Lake (and the race course!). Thom Ollinger has noted that he can find spots to board racers on a budget.
