A couple of things to look forward to this AM:

The Altair 4 will try to qualify with lid on
Mike Mowett will qualify with the repaired Wedge (Go Mike!)

Giovanni is back for a 5 mile run in SuperSeven after crashing in the Primal2 last night.

Thomas is not running Cygnus this AM. Presumably they will be working on the bike after it ran off the road yesterday.

Auré set some kind of record by towing his sk8r d00d for a mile before getting to stay upright of his own accord. He then went over 60! They have converted it froma camera bike into, er, not a camera bike. Thom did 56+, and was still doing it as he came into catch. The Cal Poly lads borrowed the speakers off John Jackson's Catrike and had bangin' choons all the way down the course. And Bluenose managed two consecutive runs without mishap. Should be a good one tonight if the weather holds.

I coasted from the finish to the catch and only lost 6 mph. I think my aerodynamics are okay. But, that was not a nice thing to do to the catchers. Thankfully they grabbed me before I went too far. So, aerodynamics area awesome. Drivetrain is junk. I can fix that!

Drag race results this morning from what I recall from my limited memory...
Giovanni Rey "track star on the Super7 team" 16.1 seconds on an upright.
Will Hilgenberg 16.9 seconds on an upright with cargo shorts & T-shirt (totally unaerodynamic Will!)
Kira Prokopakis "track star on the Super7 team" 17 something seconds on an upright. She beat my old time and record.
Will Kennedy and Jim Glover raced fully faired Moultons. Lots of times in the 17 second range counting all the times Giovanni, Will and Kira rode. My best was 17.9 seconds on my lowracer.

Robert Barnett who set up and ran the races did a wheelie, and so did Scott Wilson (inadvertently!)
There was a minibike that the Cal Poly team brought. We are currently racing them around the parking lot at the Super8. Lots of pics to follow including a pict of "Too Tall Thomas" on the minibike.

Highlights of Friday Evening....
Jan Marcel, Cygnus (78.9 mph / 127 kph as indicated by his SRM), unofficial because of a timing sensor mishap. A huge disappointment, but something he can overcome. He is not planning to ride tomorrow as those slots are supposed to go to Thomas and David.
Jan Boss, VeloX2, 78.59 mph - legal wind - he now becomes officially 3rd fastest human ever behind Sam and Sebastiaan.
Aurelien Bonnetau, 76.16 mph, Altair4 - nonlegal wind. A very fastest time, but still slower than Barbara's 76.4 mph in 2010 also with non-legal wind so Barbara is still the fastest person from France!
Barbara Buatois, Varna Tempest - 73.28 mph - her fastest of the week. Apparently she is getting more speed with the larger Varna Tempest.
Thom Amick / Phil Plath - 73.08 mph - Another TANDEM WORLD RECORD, this team's 3rd of the week. Larry rode 1X, the other two times its been Thom and Phil. They earned the 13th fastest spot on the all-time list, by 0.01 mph over Yannick Lutz who had his personal best in 2009 with the Altair2, so let's see if Yannick can do better with the Altair3.
Gareth Hanks, Completely Overzealous - 71.79 mph - Another TRIKE WORLD RECORD, his third of the week!
Sean Costin, Swift - 70.83 mph - legal wind, Personal Best. 2nd time over 70 mph in as many nights. Also his speedometer failed just before launch so couldn't pace himself as planned. Him and Raymond were estatic afterwards.
Ellen van Vugt, VeloXS - 70.27 mph - legal wind - 2nd lady over 70 mph! She has been improving all week after going 68.6 mph. The VeloXS that she is riding could be the fastest of the VeloX family of vehicles.
Ben Goodall, Nitroglycerin, 70.30 mph - legal wind, Personal Best, Ben joins the over 70 mph club
Cameron Robertson, UT Bike - 68.09 mph, Personal Best, legal wind. The U of T team spent hours sanding their bikes today and painting them to gain more speed.

Congratulations! Sorry that they had timing difficulties. I hope the riders that were deprived for an official result would always remember the joy at the speed instead of disappointment after getting known that time was not measured. The truth remains and we give all kudos to the heroes. In Nevada I noticed my GPS was always very accurate regarding to official speeds.
